Nov. 29, 2007

Chicago, Ill. - UIC Head Women's Gymnastics Coach Peter Jansson has signed Rachel Montoya (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marion Catholic) and Danielle Yaros (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Hanover Area) to National Letters of Intent to compete for the Flames in the 2009 season.

Montoya is a level 10 gymnast competing for Olympia Gymnastics. She is coached by Mike Helmke.

Montoya has been a camper at the UIC summer camp for the past two years.

"Rachel is an incredibly talented gymnast," said Jansson. "She is very powerful on vault and floor stemming from her competing in tumbling and trampoline as well as on the national level. She is going to bring a lot of energy to UIC!"

Yaros is also a level 10 gymnast who competes for Northeast Gymnastics. She is coached by Lori Dexter.

Academically, Yaros ranks at the top of her class at Hanover Area Jr./Sr. High School.

"Danielle is a strong all-around gymnast with big skills on all four events," said Jansson. "She is an exceptional tumbler and will be a great addition to UIC!"
