CHICAGO – Five members of the UIC women’s gymnastics team were recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women as Scholastic All-Americans for the 2012-13 season after posting a GPA over 3.5 this past academic year or overall.

The five Flames honored for their academic achievements were: Catherine Dion (Psychology), Gabrielle May (English), Emily Lawrence (Psychology), Chantel Turk (Psychology) and Erin Duggan (Nursing).

"We are very proud of these athletes that proved they can perform academically, as well as athletically, at the highest level and have earned the distinction of Scholastic All-American selected by the NACGC/W,” head coach Peter Jansson said.

This marks the fourth-consecutive honor for Lawrence, second for Dion, May and Duggan, and first honor for Turk.
