Moment: Dion Named NCAA Regional Gymnast of the Year

UIC gymnasts Catherine Dion and Gabrielle May concluded competition at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional at the Barnhill Arena and placed sixth and 12th, respectively, in the all-around. Dion was named the NCAA Regional Gymnast of the Year and will be an alternate for the NCAA Championships. Dion’s best score of the day came on bars, where she tallied 9.725 for ninth place on her way to an all-around score of 38.800.

- After competing at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional, Dion was selected as an alternate for the NCAA Championships.
- The Gatineau, Quebec, Canada native had a highly decorated senior season as she was named MIC Gymnast of the Week seven times and capped off her MIC career by being named Senior and Gymnast of the Year.
- Throughout the season, Dion posted career-bests on every event with 9.800 on vault, 9.925 on bars, 9.900 on beam and 9.875 on floor while tabbing a score of 39.375 in the all-around on two occasions.
- Dion additionally led the Flames in almost every event after collecting a total of 25 first-place finishes.
