Chicago, Ill.- UIC senior Jessie Jaworowicz (Roscoe, Ill./Keith School) was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for the period ending March 28th.

Jaworowicz placed second in the all-around at the State of Illinois Classic, accumulating a score of 39.05. The tally was the second-best all-around mark of her career.

The senior shared the balance beam crown with a 9.775 and posted an identical team-leading score on bars for fifth in the event.

The fourth-year standout also scored a third-place 9.825 on vault.

The honor is the first in Jaworowicz's stellar career. She also becomes the second Jaworowicz to accomplish the feat, as her older sister Jackie Jaworowicz was named the first-ever Midwest Independent Gymnast of the Week on February 1, 2005.

The UIC women's gymnastics team hosts the 2007 Midwest Independent Conference Championships at the UIC Physical Education Building this Saturday, March 31st at 5:00 p.m.
