March 27, 2006

Chicago, Ill.- The UIC women's gymnastics team is heading back to NCAA postseason play.

The NCAA announced on Monday that the Flames were one of six teams to qualify for the NCAA South Central Regional, hosted by the University of Arkansas at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Ark., on April 8th.

This marks the seventh NCAA Regional berth in school history and fourth in the last five years.

UIC's South Central Region opponents are third-ranked Florida, 2004 National Champion UCLA, Arkansas, Illinois and Southeast Missouri State.

The top two teams and the top two all-arounders (who are not on an advancing team) from each region will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA National Championships.
