Chicago, Ill. - By virtue of its strong season-finish, the University of Illinois at Chicago women's gymnastics team now finds itself in the field of the NCAA South Central Regional to be held on April 6 hosted by Arizona State University.

The Regional will be held at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.

The announcement marks the fifth-time in school history the Flames will advance to Regionals and the third time in four years.

The five other teams in the region are the top-ranked UCLA Bruins, No.12 Arizona, No.17 Brigham Young, 18th-ranked Arizona State and Cal State Fullerton.

The top-18 teams in the nation were seeded out three apiece to the six Regional sites, with the balance of each Regional field filled geographically, with the top-three teams from each region that were not among the top-18 advancing to Regional competition.

Here is how the other Regional sites stack up:

Central at LSU

Illinois State, Iowa State, Florida, New Hampshire, Central Michigan

North Central at Denver

Utah State, Missouri, Stanford, Georgia, Air Force

Northeast at Penn State

Iowa, Pittsburgh, George Washington, Nebraska, Michigan

Southeast at West Virginia

North Carolina, Alabama, Michigan State, Minnesota, Kentucky,

West at Oregon State

Utah, Washington, Oklahoma, Boise State, Southern Utah

The top two teams from each Regional advance to the NCAA Championships April 18-20 at the University of Alabama.
