The NCAA recently announced its field of regional competition for women's gymnastics.  Making the cut for the Flames included junior Andrea Skala, sophomore Chantel Turk and freshman Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette.  UIC will take part in the Norman, Okla., Regional as Oklahoma will serve as host.

Skala will compete in the all-around competition.  Her rotation will be as follows: vault, bars, beam and floor.  The Brookfield, Ill., native has been a model of consistency in the all-around this season, posting scores of 38.600 or better six times.  Her highest mark came in a dual meet win at Northern Illinois where she posted a 38.925.

Turk and Lemieux were chosen as alternates in the vault and uneven bars, respectively.  Turk has been the Flames most reliable event-specialist this season, recording a 9.75 or higher in 10 of her 12 meets.  Her highest total of 9.875 was achieved twice this year, once at home in a win over Ball State and at the MIC Championships.

Lemieux, the recently announced MIC Newcomer of the Year, has had a stellar rookie season for the Flames.  On the uneven bars, she has posted a 9.75 or better six times and she even posted two all-around scores of 39-plus in consecutive weeks.

The Norman, Okla., Regional is set to begin Saturday, April 2, at 4 p.m. CT.
