Chantel Turk Named Midwest Independent All-Arounder Of The Week

CHICAGO- UIC freshman Chantel Turk (Hazelcrest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) was named the Midwest Independent Conference All-Arounder of the Week for the period ending March 14. Turk posted a career-high 38.900 in the all-around to take third in a crowded field at Denver on March 13. She also took second on floor exercise with a 9.825. This is the second consecutive week that Turk has been honored by the conference. She garnered Midwest Independent Conference Specialist of the Week honors last Tuesday after wins on vault and floor exercise against Northern Illinois two weeks ago. Turk and the Flames head to the State of Illinois Classic in Normal, Ill. this weekend.
