Women's Gymnastics Plays Host To Illinois State Classic

CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team prepares for its meet against Illinois, Illinois State and Northern Illinois Saturday inside the Physical Education Building.

The Flames are coming from a third-place finish (192.625) against Illinois (196.300) and Ball State (193.500) on March 10. Senior Chantel Turk placed third on vault (9.825), bars (9.800) and floor (9.875). Turk led the Flames in the all-around with a 39.100.

During their last meet (March 10), the Illini (196.300) defeated Ball State (193.500) and UIC (192.625). Alina Weinstein finished first on vault (9.875) and floor (9.975), and a 9.875 on bars for a second-place finish. Weinstein notched a first-place finish in all-around with a 39.500. Sunny Kato scored a 9.900 on bars to finish first, while Giana O’Connor and Elizabeth McNabb tied for first on beam with scores of 9.850.

The Redbirds enter the match after a third-place finish (194.275) against Denver (197.200) and Arizona State (195.675) March 9. Sami King took first on beam (9.900) and floor (9.875) and placed second in all-around with a 39.325. Kim Genereux led her team on bars with a 9.775.

The Huskies are coming from a 194.825 to 193.675 loss to Western Michigan March 9. Jaelyn Olson placed fourth on vault, scoring a 9.800. Megan Melendez tied for second on vault with a 9.825 and took first on beam (9.825). Marisa Liptak scored a 9.800 on floor for a four-way tie. Kim Gotlund and Natalie Sutter placed second (38.600) and third (38.575) in the all-around.
