    CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team contests Illinois and Ball State Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (CT) inside Huff Hall in Champaign, Illinois.

    “We are looking forward to seeing our sister school and going up against a MAC school,” co-head coach Peter Jansson said. “We hope to continue building on our success from the past few weeks. The team looks ready to put together all four events for a solid meet.”

    UIC enters the meet after finishing first with a 192.700 Saturday in a meet against Western Michigan. The Flames placed first on the vault, parallel bars and floor exercise. Senior Chantel Turk claimed a 9.825 on the vault, while Citlali Cuevas, Catherine Dion, Turk and Gabrielle May were in a four-way tie for first on the parallel bars with a 9.775. Junior Dion led the team on the floor exercise with a 9.800 in the event.

    The Fighting Illini most recently fell to No. 22 Penn State 196.300 to 195.775 Saturday. Alina Weinstein took first place on the vault and floor, scoring a 9.925 and 9.900. Jaclyn Kantecki scored a 9.825 on bars, ending up in a two-way tie for second. Weinstein also ended up in a two-way tie for second on the balance beam with a score of 9.850.

    Ball State dropped to Kentucky, 196.500-194.150 Sunday. The Cardinals were led by Brooklyn Shumacher, who placed second on the bars with a 9.850. Brittney Emmons and Denasiha Christian were in a two-way tie for third on floor exercise with a score of 9.800.
