No. 26 Women's Gymnastics Set For Centenary

CHICAGO - The 26th-ranked UIC women's gymnastics team is traveling to Shreveport, La., Saturday to compete against Centenary College. Competition is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. (CT) in Centenary College's Gold Dome facility.

"We are looking forward to measuring up against a couple of our conference foes on the road before we host the Conference Championship here at UIC in two weeks," co-head coach Peter Jansson said. "We hope to continue our consistent performance, and get yet another score that will strengthen our National ranking and our bid for the NCAA tournament."

Most recently UIC faced Michigan State where the squad dropped to the Big-10 team in a 195.550-195.175 decision inside the Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Mich. on March 2.

Despite the loss, UIC advanced two spots in the national rankings to No. 26. During the competition at Michigan State, UIC posted a score of 48.875 on the beam which bested the Spartans score of 48.700. Catherine Dion (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada/ Nicolas-Gatineau) of the Flames led the event with a score of 9.875.

The Centenary College Catahoula's recently scored their third-best score of the season in a win against Springfield College with a score of 190.775-180.125 on February 25.
