    CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team prepares for its meet against Western Michigan Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Physical Education Building. The meet serves as a senior event to honor Erin Duggan, Emily Lawrence and Chantel Turk.

    The Flames are coming off a first-place finish (193.800) against Texan Woman’s (193.575), Centenary (191.625) and Air Force (191.225) on Feb. 24.

    UIC finished first on vault (48.975) and beam (48.325), while senior Chantel Turk placed second on vault (9.850) and floor (9.850). Sophomore Alyssa Cruz scored a 9.725 on beam to notch a first-place finish. Junior Catherine Dion led the Flames on bars with a 9.825 and sophomore Gabrielle May finished second in the all-around posting a 38.800, missing first by just .050 points.

    During their last meet (Feb. 24), the Broncos lost to Central Michigan 195.875 to 193.250. Lauren Bledsoe scored a 9.875 on floor to take first in the event, and a 9.825 on vault for a third-place finish. Shelby MacDonald and Kayla Weber tied for second on bars, posting a 9.825. Weber also notched a third-place finish on beam (9.800) and second in all-around (39.050).
