CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team returns to the Physical Education Building on Friday to host MIC-opponent Texas Woman’s beginning at 7 p.m. CT. The Pioneers hold a slight edge in the national rankings with an average score of 192.640 over the Flames’ 191.843.

UIC enters Friday’s meet after competing against No. 18 Boise State, Bowling Green and North Carolina in the Chicago Style Meet on Feb. 7 and against Southeast Missouri and Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 9. The Flames fell into last place in their quad-meet with a final score of 191.150 before posting a season-high 193.475 for second in their tri-meet just two days later.

At the Chicago Style Meet, top scores for UIC came from senior Catherine Dion on bars (9.800) and beam (9.825), redshirt-junior Kimberly Randall on vault (9.800) and junior Gabrielle May on floor (9.700), with Dion additionally taking a team-high 38.400 in the all-around.

The Flames best performance of the season came against SEMO and Alaska Anchorage. Randall placed first on vault for the first time this season and set her personal-best with 9.875, and also set career-highs on bars (9.750) and floor (9.725). Dion tied for second on vault (9.800) for a career-best and additionally recorded first-place on bars (9.850), beam (9.850), floor (9.875) and in the all-around (39.375), with her bars, floor and all-around scores setting personal-bests.

Texas Woman’s heads to Chicago for competition following a first-place finish against conference-foes Centenary and Lindenwood with a final score of 192.675. Bethany Larimer leads the Pioneers with an average of 9.810 on vault and 9.750 on bars, as Brittainy Johnson takes ownership on beam with a 9.755 average and Margaret Mayfield on floor with an average of 9.735. Larimer on vault and Mayfield on floor additionally lead all gymnasts in the MIC on their respective events.
