Mike Barz And WGN Morning News To Feature Women's Gymnastics Team This Week
Feb. 2, 2002 Chicago, Ill. - The WGN Morning News is one of the most popular television programs in Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Chicago women's gymnastic team will be featured as part of the "Around Town" segment on Tuesday morning, February 5. Millions of Chicagoland television viewers tune-in to watch the entertaining WGN Morning News with anchors Larry Potash and Roseanne Tellez, weathercaster Paul Konrad, traffic reporter Robin Baumgarten and Sports Anchor Mike Barz. With this crew, Chicagoans are assured to receive a quality newscast, while enjoying the camaraderie and fun personalities this program has to offer every morning. Barz and the "Around Town" crew will set-up shop Tuesday morning at the UIC Physical Education Building to detail what it's like to be a UIC gymnast and to give the viewers a chance to see the talent and grace of these UIC athletes. Barz, who has established himself as one of the most popular sportscasters in Chicago, started his career in Green Bay, Wisconsin before coming to WGN in October of 1998. Before his stint in Green Bay, Barz was a reporter in Rock Island, Illinois.
