    CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics plays host to the State of Illinois versus State of Michigan Meet Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Physical Education Building.

    “We are coming off a good couple of weeks of practicing and a strong meet,” co-head coach Peter Jansson said. “We hope to be able to continue the trend and also are looking forward to this meet that we won last year and help Illinois to keep the IL-MI trophy from last year. Each meet the girls have competed a little better and they still have some room to grow so we look forward to getting back out on the floor on Saturday.”

    The Flames head into the meet coming from a road win over Illinois State on Jan. 27. Senior Chantel Turk took first in the all-around with a 39.125, first on floor with a 9.850 and led UIC on bars with a 9.750. Junior Catherine Dion, sophomore Citlali Cuevas, and Turk had a three-way tie on vault, each scoring a 9.775. Senior Erin Duggan and sophomore Alyssa Cruz ended up in a three-way tie for first place along with Illinois State’s Samantha King on beam with a 9.775.

    During their last meet, the Eagles fell to Bowling Green 194.025 to 193.900 on Jan. 26. Amanda Fuller took first overall on floor with 9.825 and third overall on vault with a score of 9.800. Ashley Quinton and Anna Willette tied for second on bars with a score of 9.825. Willette also tied for first on beam with a 9.825.

    The Chippewas head to UIC after finishing third with a 194.650 against Minnesota (196.800), Michigan (196.775) and Iowa State (193.950). Kirsten Petzold led Central Michigan on vault with a 9.800, finishing tenth overall. Kylie Fagan took fifth overall on bars with a 9.800. Taylor Noonan finished in a three-way tie for second on beam with a 9.850 and led the Chippewas on floor with a 9.825, finishing eleventh overall. Taking fifth in all-around was Becca Druien with a 38.700.
