Jackie Jaworowicz Named Inaugural Midwest Independent Gymnast Of The Week
Feb. 1, 2005 Chicago, Ill.- After winning her second consecutive all-around title and notching four top-four event finishes at Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, University of Illinois at Chicago senior Jackie Jaworowicz (Roscoe, Ill./Keith School) was named the first-ever Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for the period ending January 30th. Jaworowicz earned the inaugural accolade by posting a season-high 38.875 all-around tally that tied her for first place in the competition during UIC's victory over SEMO. Jaworowicz keyed the Flames' season-best total score of 192.575 by placing in the top four of four events, placing second in the floor exercise with a 9.775, fourth on beam with a 9.75 and third on both bars (9.7) and vault (9.65). The Midwest Independent Conference is a women's gymnastics conference with member teams from the University of Illinois at Chicago; Illinois State University; Centenary College of Louisiana; Southeast Missouri State; and Texas Women's University. This is the first season that the conference is awarding a weekly Gymnast of the Week honor. UIC is back in action this Saturday at Illinois beginning at 7 p.m.
