Chicago, Ill.- University of Illinois at Chicago junior Rachael Zelinski (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington H.S.) was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for the period ending January 24th.

Zelinski posted two victories against then-No. 19 Minnesota this past Saturday, winning the beam with a 9.775 and the floor exercise with a career best-tying 9.900.

The award marked the second straight week that a UIC gymnast received the honor. Freshman Annie Kachman (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) received the award last week.

UIC, ranked No. 23 in the latest GymInfo poll, travels to meet No. 18 Denver and No. 25 Michigan State this Saturday in Denver, Colo.
