CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team returns to the Physical Education Building on Sunday to host conference-foe Lindenwood in a dual meet set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
The Flames are back in action following a quad meet at Penn State alongside SEMO and Cornell on Jan. 18. UIC fell behind the trio after totaling 189.125, but senior Catherine Dion led the team on all four events. Dion matched her career-best on bars with a 9.825, scored a 9.750 on beam, set a career-high on floor with 9.825 and closed out vault with a 9.650 to score 39.050 in the all-around.
Lindenwood heads into competition after defeating Illinois State, 190.175-189.950, on Friday, Jan. 24, in Normal, Ill. The Lions had entered into the weekend following a third-place finish in a tri-meet against Minnesota and Air Force, and a first-place finish versus Seattle Pacific, UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse.
Sunday’s meet will serve as the first regular-season meeting between UIC and Lindenwood. The pair met at the MIC Championship last season, with the Flames taking first with 195.600 and the Lions coming in fifth with 193.050.
