Chicago, Ill. - UIC junior Annie Kachman (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for the period ending Jan. 23.

Kachman won the all-around competition with a season-high 38.650 against Western Michigan on Sunday. She also notched vault (9.800) and floor exercise (9.750) titles to pace the Flames.

Her strong performances helped UIC raise its overall team score by 2.800 points (190.625) compared to their first meet of the season verses Florida (187.825).

This is the first time this season that Kachman has earned the honor.

The UIC women's gymnastics team will host their first dual meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 26 against Centenary College at the UIC Physical Education Building (PEB) beginning at 5 p.m. The meet will be UIC's homecoming night as the women's team will compete alongside the men's team as they take on Iowa.
