The UIC women's gymnastics team fell in its season-opening meet at Bowling Green on Sunday by a final score of 190.225 to 185.525.

"Bowling Green was the better team today in that they made fewer mistakes," said Head Coach Peter Jansson.  " They definitely had there nerves more under control than we did."

The Flames were led by sophomore Erin Duggan as she tied for first on the vault and placed fourth on the uneven parallel bars with scores of 9.450 and 9.475, respectively.  Senior Emily Fiorilli was not far behind Duggan in the vault with a score of 9.325, which was good enough for fourth place.

Participating in the all-around competition was junior Andrea Skala who was outscored by the Falcons' Dawn Christman, 38.425-36.850.

The Flames return to action next Monday, Jan. 17 as they host Western Michigan at 2 p.m. CT in the Physical Education Building on the UIC campus.
