Women's Gymnastics Closes Out Record Setting Campaign at the NCAA South Central Regional

Columbia, Mo. - The record setting season for the UIC women's gymnastics team came to an exciting conclusion on Saturday night, as the Flames finished sixth at the NCAA South Central Regional in Columbia, Missouri in front of 2, 194 fans at the Hearnes Center on the campus of the University of Missouri. Defending national champion #1 UCLA won the competition with a score of 197.700 and will move onto the national championships along with #13 Iowa, who scored a 195.875. #12 Oregon State finished third (195.850), #19 Arizona was fourth (195.450), followed by the host Missouri Tigers (194.825) and the Flames (193.200). Leading the way for the Flames was freshman Veronique Meunier who just missed a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships, as she finished in a tie for second on vault with an outstanding score of 9.875, equaling UCLA's Jamie Dantzscher and Kate Richardson. Meunier finished in eighth-place in the all-around competition with a tally of 39.150. Atlin Mitchell had a nice evening for the Flames, finishing with a score of 9.875 on floor exercise. Alyson Cacciatore finished off an incredible season for UIC, as the sophomore finished with a score of 9.8 on bars.
