    NORMAL, Ill.- Chantel Turk's third-place vault and fifth-place all-around performances highlighted the UIC women's gymnastics team's showing at the 2010 State of Illinois Classic inside Redbird Arena on Saturday.

    UIC finished third out of four teams, scoring a 192.475. Illinois used a season-high 196.650 to win the meet, followed by Northern Illinois just edging the Flames with a 192.650. Host Illinois State placed fourth with a 191.975.

    Turk scored a 9.850 on her vault, taking third out of 24 competitors. She ended her day with a team-best 38.525 in the all-around to place fifth out of nine four-event performers.

    Andrea Skala posted a 38.375 in the all-around to finish in sixth, right behind Turk. Skala led UIC on bars with a 9.75 that garnered eighth-place honors.

    Rachel Montoya was the Flames' top finisher on beam with a 9.7 that ranked 10th overall, and Sarah Murray was UIC's best floor exercise performer by tallying a 9.825 that tied for seventh.

    The Flames head to Denton, Texas next Saturday for the 2010 Midwest Independent Conference Championships hosted by Texas Woman's University.
