    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The UIC women's gymnastics team competed at the Illinois Classic, hosted by the University of Illinois at Huff Hall, on Saturday and came away with second place and a final score of 194.550.  Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette (St. Hubert, Quebec/Gym Richelieu) led the Flames with the team's best overall score of 9.850 on the bars.

    Competing alongside Illinois, Illinois State and Northern Illinois, the Fighting Illini captured first with 196.150, as the Redbirds took third with 194.350 and the Huskies rounded out fourth with 193.050.

    Catherine Dion (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada/Nicolas-Gatineau) and Chantel Turk (Hazelcrest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) tied on the vault to lead UIC with scores of 9.725, as the team collected a combined 48.475.  With the Flames holding a score of 48.975 on the bars, Lemieux produced a team-best 9.850 and tied for third overall, followed by a 9.825 from Turk and a 9.800 from Andrea Skala (Brookfield, Ill./Flying High Sports), who posted a 38.875 in the all-around.

    While competing on the beam, Dion registered a 9.750 and tied for fourth to lead UIC's combined total of 48.400, with Erin Duggan (Mokena, Ill./Gym Kinetics) and Lemieux both tallying a 9.700.  Turk came away with a 9.775 on the floor exercise, while Dion and Lemieux each collected a 9.750 to contribute to the team's 48.700.

    The Flames next face the MIC Championship on Saturday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. (CT) inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.
