Kachman Wins All-Around As Women's Gymnastics Defeats Illinois State

Normal, Ill. - The UIC women's gymnastics team garnered its highest team score of the year against conference foe Illinois State on Tuesday night. The Flames earned their second win of the season with a 193.625-192.150 victory over the host Redbirds. Veteran Annie Kachman won the all-around competition with a combined score of 38.875. Kachman also posted high scores on the vault (9.750), uneven bars (9.725), and the floor exercise (9.750). Zandre Labuschagne won her second bars title of the year with a season-best score of 9.800. She also placed second on the balance beam scoring a 9.750. Joining Kachman and Labuschagne with individual accolades was Sarah Murray, who took home her second consecutive floor exercise title with a 9.825. Murray also finished in third place on the vault posting a 9.700. Illinois State's Meaghan Koshman and Jessica Proussa won the vault and balance beam crowns to round out the event titles. Other top scores on the night for UIC included a second place finish on the vault for DeAvera Todd (9.800) and third place results on the floor exercise for Emily Fiorilli (9.750) and for Karen Morales on the balance beam (9.675). The Flames will host their last regular season meet of the season this Saturday (March 15) against Illinois at the Physical Education Building beginning at 5 p.m. The women will compete alongside the men's team who also take on Illinois.
