Women's Gymnastics Defeats Centenary, Illinois State|

SHREVEPORT, La. - The UIC women's gymnastics meet finished first in a three-team meet at Shreveport, La., hosted by Centenary Saturday afternoon. The Flames defeated both in-state foe Illinois State and Centenary.
UIC finished the meet in first-place with a 193.675 mark, while Centenary posted a 193.200, and Illinois State (192.950) finished third.
Collectively, the Flames' team scores in the meet were as follows: 48.175 in the vault, 49.050 on the bars, 48.125 on the beam and 48.300 in the floor exercise. Andrea Skala, competing in the All-Around, posted a score of 39.025. The Flames' best individual score in the meet came on the bars, with Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette scoring a stellar 9.9.
In the vault, Chantel Turk posted a team-best score of 9.775, while Gabrielle May scored a 9.725. The bars event saw Skala post a 9.850 to join Lemieux's impressive score, while Erin Duggan and Turk each recorded 9.775 scores.
Skala also owned the Flames' top score on the beam, posting a 9.700 - Duggan recorded a 9.650, while Catherine Dion scored a 9.625 in the event. On the floor exercise, Turk posted an impressive score of 9.825 to pace the Flames.
The Flames will travel to Champaign, Ill., to take part in the Illinois Classic next Saturday (March 17).
