Chapel Hill, North Carolina - The women's gymnastics team placed third out of three teams with 191.925 points at the University of North Carolina on Sunday.

North Carolina captured the meet with a score of 194.9 followed by Eastern Michigan (194.775).

Junior Amy August (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles) was the top performer for UIC (10-5) as she recorded a second-place score of 9.8 on the uneven bars. She, along with teammate Cheryl Rubinger (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln), recorded a team-best on the vault with a score of 9.675.

Junior Nadia Ori (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) was tops for the Flames on the floor exercise with a score of 9.8. Senior Laura Jungels (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) and freshman Atlin Mitchell (Surrey, BC/Elgin Park) each recorded a team-best 9.825 on the balance beam.

"We have to leave this meet behind us," women's gymnastics coach Peter Jansson said. "After our bars routine, we really put in a good performance."

The Flames will be back in action on Friday, March 9th as they will host Illinois State at 7 PM in the Physical Education Building.
