    CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team posted a senior-night win over Western Michigan 192.700-192.525 Saturday inside the Physical Education Building. The team claimed first place on the vault, parallel bars and floor exercise.

    The Flames held off the Broncos in the front half of the meet as they defeated Western Michigan on the vault (48.825-48.425) and bars 48.825-47.975.

    Senior Chantel Turk led the team on vault with a 9.825, while Citlali Cuevas, Catherine Dion, Turk and Gabrielle May finished in a four-way tie for first place on the parallel bars with a 9.775.

    The Broncos claimed beam in a 48.250-46.350 outcome. Dion placed second in the event with a 9.775.

    UIC then won the floor exercise, 48.700-47.875 to conclude the meet. Dion again paced the Flames; she captured a 9.800 on the event.

    In addition to her first-place finishes on parallel bars and floor, she finished with a 39.050 in the all-around to secure the top spot.

    The Flames return to action March 10 in Champaign, Ill., against Illinois along with Ball State.
