EAST LANSING, Mich. – The UIC women’s gymnastics team (7-5) logged another 195 score (195.175) Friday against Michigan State as the squad was edged by the Spartans, 195.550-195.175 inside the Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Mich.

“We had a great day on several events,” co-head coach Peter Jansson said. “Bars, beam and floor were absolutely fantastic. There were several kids that had great days. Andie (Skala) was solid on all four events with a 39.100. Chantel (Turk) had at least a 9.8 on all events tonight. It was a great team score, and Emily (Lawrence) stepped in to compete on beam, which really helped us out.”

The Flames claimed the team score on the beam as UIC topped Michigan State, 48.875-48.700. Catherine Dion (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada/ Nicolas-Gatineau) led the Flames in the event with a 9.875.

Andrea Skala (Brookfield, Ill./Flying High Sports) posted a 39.100 in the all-around event, as the senior posted a 9.675 on the vault, 9.850 (bars), 9.800 on the beam, followed by a 9.775 performance on the floor exercise.

The Flames return to action Saturday (March 10) against conference foe, Centenary, at 7:00 p.m. (CT) in Shreveport, Ind.
