Chicago, Ill.- Despite a stellar showing from freshman Zandre Labuschagne, the UIC women's gymnastics team was unable to get past No. 21 Illinois at the UIC Physical Education Building on Saturday evening.

Labuschagne was strong on uneven bars, winning the event with a 9.725 to propel the rookie from South Africa to a team-leading 38.575 in the all-around.

Veronique Meunier turned in a third-place 9.775 on vault to highlight a 38.100 all-around night for the senior.

Junior Jessie Jaworowicz led UIC on both beam (9.775) and floor exercise (9.750).

Illinois won the meet with a 195.300, while UIC posted a 190.775.

UIC closes out the home schedule on Sunday, March 5th against Illinois State at the UIC Physical Education Building beginning at 2:00 p.m.
