Skala, Turk, and Montoya Lead Women's Gymnastics To Victory Against Centenary

CHICAGO - Andrea Skala, Chantel Turk, and Rachel Montoya notched the top spots in the all-around, as the UIC women's gymnastics team defeated Centenary on Friday at the UIC Physical Education Building.
Skala scored a 38.600 to grab the all-around title for the Flames. Skala also took the balance beam title with a 9.675.
"It's good to see Andrea come back form her injury at the beginning of the year," said co-head coach Peter Jansson. "Today she looked confident and was ready to compete."
Turk finished the day claiming the vault title with a 9.825 performance. The freshman earned runner-up honors in the all-around scoring a 38.550.
On the bars, Montoya posted a 9.725 to earn the top spot in the event. The South Chicago Heights native ended her day with a third place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.450.
Kayleigh Kremer rounded out the day for UIC earning the number one spot on the floor with a 9.725.
"The girls showed that they can stay tough after a mistake in the middle of the line-up," said Jansson. "When you show that you can hit in stressful situations, changes everything"
The Flames will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State on Sunday Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
