    CHICAGO - Senior Chantel Turk led all gymnasts in the all-around with a 39.300 and sophomore Alyssa Cruz captured first on balance beam with a 9.800, as the UIC women's gymnastics team posted its highest score of the season with a 194.625 versus No. 12 Denver Saturday evening inside the Physical Education Building.

    The Flames produced top-three finishes five times after combining on vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and floor.

    Turk was able to come away with the best scores for UIC in three events, in addition to all-around.  On vault, Turk scored a 9.875 for second place, while posting a 9.850 on parallel bars for fourth behind Denver's three-way tie for first and another 9.850 on floor to tie for third, ultimately scoring an all-around of 39.300.

    Cruz claimed the balance beam after coming away with a score of 9.800.  Turk finished just behind in a three-way tie for second with a final of 9.725.

    Kimberly Randall finished in the top three on vault, tying for third after posting a 9.850, and Citlali Cuevas tied for third in the all-around with a 38.925.

    The Flames are back to competition on Sunday, Feb. 24, when they travel to Denton, Texas, to contend with Texas Women's, Air Force and Centenary beginning at 2 p.m. (CT) at Kitty Magee Arena.
