Normal, Ill. - A long weekend of downstate competition has finally come to a conclusion, as the UIC women's gymnastics team defeated Illinois State, 194.125-193.575, on Sunday in Normal, Ill.

This comes less than 24 hours after beating Illinois and losing to Minnesota on Saturday night in Champaign.

UIC was led by the services of sophomore all-arounder Alyson Cacciatore who won the all-around competition with a score of 38.875.

Cacciatore also won the floor competition (9.9) and tied for first on bars with teammate Holly Burhn with scores of 9.875.

Atlin Mitchell was outstanding on vault as usual, winning that event with a score of 9.875.

Stacey Magiera chipped in with a victory on beam, equaling ISU's Lisa Klein with a tally of 9.875.

The Flames will continue their February away from home on Friday, February 21, when they travel to Muncie, Indiana to tangle with Ball State and Illinois State for the second-straight week. Competition is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
