Wins By Montoya, Turk Highlight Women's Gymnastics' Showing Against Bowling Green

CHICAGO- Rachel Montoya's all-around victory and Chantel Turk's win on vault highlighted the UIC women's gymnastics team's home meet against Bowling Green on Saturday at the Physical Education Building. Montoya posted a career-best 38.900 to claim her first collegiate all-around title. The sophomore also led UIC with a second-place floor routine that garnered a 9.825. Turk turned in a winning vault score of 9.9. Christine Girard and Karen Morales tallied identical 9.75 scores on uneven bars to share second place in the event rankings. Emily Lawrence had a fine meet, leading UIC with a second-place beam score of 9.775 that helped her finish third in the all-around standings with a 38.675. UIC scored a season-best 192.750 but fell short of the Falcons' 193.300. The Flames posted meet-high team scores on vault (48.75) and bars (48.425). The Flames return to action on Friday, Feb. 12 against Midwest Independent Conference rival Illinois State.
