Chicago, Ill.- Sophomore Annie Kachman's career-best all-around performance and three individual event wins highlighted a welcome homecoming for the UIC women's gymnastics team, as the Flames defeated San Jose State in the Flames' home opener at the Physical Education Building on Saturday night.

UIC posted a season-best 195.350 to down the Spartans (193.250) and claim its first dual meet win of the season. The Flames' total score was the best by the team since March 17, 2004 and included a new school record for team score on balance beam (49.275).

Kachman won the all-around with a career-high tally of 39.350. The second-year standout turned in three second-place showings and a fourth-place performance on beam. All four of her event scores were personal bests as well.
