Chicago, Ill. - Senior Cheryl Rubinger broke teammate Sara Casica's school record of 39.15 in the all-around with a score of 39.25 to help the UIC women's gymnastics team to the 194.025-189.050 victory over the Air Force Academy on Friday night at the Physical Education Building.

"It is a huge deal," UIC coach Peter Jansson said. "It's kind of exciting that it goes back and forth like that between Cheryl and Sara."

Rubinger's record-setting day included career bests in the vault (9.775) and the floor exercise (9.875). She tied a personal mark on the uneven bars with a score of 9.800 and followed that up with a second-place performance on the balance beam (9.800).

Senior Laura Jungels recorded a career-best for the third consecutive week as she earned first-place honors on the floor exercise (9.875). She followed that up with another first-place and also tied her career-best on the balance beam with a score of 9.850.

Junior Amy August also turned in a solid effort for the Flames as she placed first on the uneven bars (9.825) and was a runner-up to Rubinger on the vault (9.750).

"All we have to do is solve those balance beam problems," Jansson said. "Once we do that, we're on the verge of being a fantastic team."
