Women's Gymnastics Posts Highest Score Of Season|

CHICAGO – The UIC women’s gymnastics team (1-3) continues to improve its score with each meet and despite dropping 195.050-194.350 to Kentucky Saturday inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill., the Flames found their highest score of the season.
The Flames were able to edge Kentucky on the floor exercise as the UIC scored 48.700 to the Wildcats’ 48.525. Junior Chantel Turk (Hazelcrest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) logged the highest overall score in the event for the second-straight meet with a 9.850.
In the first rotation, the Wildcats outlasted the Flames 97.550-97.100 as the Kentucky squad claimed the vault (48.725-48.650) and uneven bars (48.825-48.450). Turk led the Flames on the vault with a 9.775 score, while Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette (St.-Hubert, Quebec/Andre-Laurendeau) posted a 9.775 on the uneven bars to pace the Flames.
UIC posted a 48.550 score on the beam, while Kentucky claimed a 48.975 to win the event. Co-captain senior Andrea Skala (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) had the team-high score of 9.850.
The Flames return to action Friday in a battle between the state of Illinois and Michigan at 5:00 p.m. (CT) in Ypsilanti, Mich.
