Cape Girardeau, Mo.- Sophomore Annie Kachman won the floor exercise to pace the UIC women's gymnastics team in its season-opening meet against Midwest Independent rivals Southeast Missouri State and Centenary at SEMO's Houck Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

UIC posted a 187.900 to place third. SEMO won the meet with a 193.700, while Centenary turned in a runner-up tally of 188.275.

Kachman turned in a 9.850 on floor to win the event. The second-year standout also led the Flames on vault with a third-place score of 9.650.

Christine Girard made her first collegiate meet a memorable one, as the rookie took home team-leading honors on uneven bars with a third-place 9.650.

Rachael Zelinski paced UIC on balance beam with a 9.825 to share second place.

Jessie Jaworowicz was UIC's top all-arounder at the meet, scoring an overall mark of 36.075 to take fourth place.

The Flames return to the gym on Friday, January 19th against Illinois State, SEMO and Centenary in Normal, Ill. at 7:00 p.m.
