Muncie, Ind.- The women's gymnastics team rode a strong performance on the parallel bars to finish in third place out of five teams Friday night at the Ball State Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Ind. Ball State took won the five-team meet with a score of 193.475 while West Virginia finished in second with 190.825.

Sara Casica was the top all-around performer for UIC with a 38.100. Laura Jungels turned in the top score of the evening for the Flames, placing fifth on the balance beam with a 9.775.

UIC was able to get a bit of revenge by edging out Illinois for third place at Ball State. The Flames opened their season last Saturday when the Fighting Illini dealt UIC a home loss in the season opener for both schools.

The Flames return to action next on Saturday, January 22, when the host Oklahoma at 7:00 p.m.
