    DeKalb, Ill.- Despite a vault victory from junior Veronique Meunier and a balance beam win from senior Stacey Magiera and sophomore Jessie Jaworowicz, the University of Illinois at Chicago women's gymnastics team was downed by Northern Illinois in their season opener, 191.925-190.325.

    Meunier posted a 9.850 on vault to edge teammate Regine Charron, who turned in a 9.725 on the apparatus.

    Jaworowicz and Magiera each put up a 9.8 on beam to share the event win.

    Jennifer O'Neil was the leading all-arounder for the Flames, posting a 37.775.

    UIC is back in action this Friday as they journey to Tucson, Arizona to take on the host Wildcats along with Missouri and Michigan State at 7:30 p.m.
