    Women's Gymnastics Is NCAA Bound

    UIC will compete in the Illinois Regional.

    AS A JUNIOR (2011): Competed in 11 meets ... came in second overall with a score of 38.075 in the all-around against Illinois State (Feb. 12) ... claimed the all-around title against Centenary of 38.600 (Feb. 19) ... placed first on the bars with a 9.675 against OSU (Feb. 21) ... tied for first on the floor (9.800) at Western Michigan on Feb. 28 ... established a 9.725 on vault, a 9.750 on bars, a 9.625 on beam, a 9.750 on floor and a 38.850 in all-around against Arkansas (Feb. 27) ... tallied the all-around top spot with a 39.125 on against Northern Illinois (March 6) ... scored over 9.7 seven times on bars with a high score of 9.75 ... hit her last seven sets in a row on beam with a season high of 9.75 ... on floor she missed one pass all season and had a season high of 9.825 ... one of the top all-arounders in the Region and qualified for NCAA Regionals as an all-arounder for the second year in a row ... competed with New Hampshire in Oklahoma Regional ... all-state and all-conference academic team honoree, achieving a 3.25 or higher GPA for the fall ... Most Valuable Gymnast Award for outstanding effort and performance for the second-consecutive season.

    AS A SOPHOMORE (2010): Qualified for her first NCAA Regionals ... high scores of the year were on vault 9.825 (twice), on bars 9.8, on beam 9.725, on floor 9.85, and scoring a 39.125 in all-around ... established a 9.725 on vault, a 9.650 on bars, a 9.650 on beam, a 9.775 on floor and a 38.800 in all-around at Denver (March 13) ... scored a 38.600 in all-around against Centenary (Feb. 19) which was her third best season score ... all-state academic team honoree ... Most Valuable Gymnast Award for outstanding effort and performance.

    AS A FRESHMAN (2009): Appeared in all 13 meets ... scored a 9.75 on bars against Auburn (Jan. 4) ... recorded a season high on floor exercise with a score of 9.850 at LSU with North Carolina Feb. 20 ... scored a season high score of 9.825 on the balance beam ... established a 9.75 on vault, a 9.55 on bars, a 9.675 on beam, a 9.7 on floor and a 38.75 in All-Around at Illinois (March 7) ... logged a 9.775 at the MIC Championships (March 21) ... best all-around competition against Auburn with a score of 39.00 (Jan. 4) ... tallied a All-Around score of 38.875 at SEMO (Jan. 17) ... she scored a 9.6 on vault, a 9.65 on bars, a 9.6 on beam, a 9.85 on floor and a 38.7 in all-around at LSU & UNC (Feb. 20) ... earning a spot on both the Scholastic All-State and All-Conference Academic Teams ... Most Improved Gymnast Award honoree because of her quick improvement after a turf toe injury.

    PREP AND PERSONAL: State runner-up on the uneven bars in 2007 ... placed sixth in the all-around as a senior as well as fourth on the bars and in the floor routine ... regional and sectional all-around champion as a junior and senior ... West Suburban Silver Conference runner-up in the all-around in her last two seasons at LT ... competed for the Flying High Sports and Rec Center in Countryside for 10 years under coaches Kacey Childs, Randy Darlin and Chris Deck ... 2005 level nine vault champion, later went on to win the level nine regional competition in 2006 ... named to the junior national region five team in 2007 ... also a four-year letterwinner in cheerleading ... born February 20, 1990 ... daughter of John and Lara Skala ... currently enrolled as a finance major.
