CHICAGO - The UIC women's golf team will open its fall season next Monday, when the Flames host the inaugural Chi-Town Classic at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. The Flames, which will welcome three more newcomers to the mix this season, will compete in five fall tournaments.

The Chi-Town Classic's field will feature UIC, cross-town rival Loyola and Chicago State. It will mark the first time in program history that UIC has hosted an official event, and will take place at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club, the Flames' home course, on Labor Day. UIC regularly practices at Cog Hill, which is ranked among the Top 100 courses in the country by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest.

The following week (Sept. 9-10), UIC will travel to metro Detroit to take part in the Detroit Titans Fall Classic at Hartland Glen Country Club. One week later (Sept. 16-17), the Flames will compete in the annual Chi-Po Classic, hosted by Chicago State.

UIC will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete in the Wolverine Invitational from Sept. 22-23. The Flames will then be idle for three weeks before wrapping up the fall season at the WIU Autumn Invitational (Oct. 14-15) in Macomb, Ill.

The Flames will add three newcomers to their lineup this season: Freshman Caitlan Smollen (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius), sophomore transfer Ryann Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor/Southern Illinois) and junior transfer Angela Shin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Lake Forest).
