CHICAGO - The UIC women’s golf team released its 2014 fall schedule Monday morning. The Flames have a packed schedule, with six tournaments and a home match slated for the 2014 fall season. The 2014-15 season serves as the fourth year for UIC women’s golf as the program began competition in the fall of 2011.

The Flames open the fall slate at the Chi-Town Classic. The event is scheduled for Sept. 1 and will be held at Cog Hill Country Club in Lemont. Last year at the Chi-Town Classic, the Flames had a successful finish with Elizabeth Curtiss tying for first place with a round of 78 and Caitlan Smollen tying for sixth with a score of 80.

Pressing on with their season, the Flames will head to Wisconsin for the Green Bay Fall Invitational. The tournament will be held at the Green Bay Country Club from Sept. 7-9. Last fall, the Flames finished with a 36-hole score of 649, which is the third lowest in program history.

Following the Green Bay Invitational, the Flames will partake in the Western Illinois Autumn Invitational on Sept. 12-14 held at the Harry Mussato Golf Course in Macomb. The last time the Flames attended the WIU Invite was October 2012, when Ryann Gilley and Kayla Stueland both finished with a combined score of 167, tying them for eighth place overall.

The Flames will host a home match at the Cog Hill Country Club on Sept. 20 and then compete in the Loyola-Chicago Invitational on the weekend of Sept. 21-23 at the Flossmoor Country Club.

UIC is slated to play at the Chicago State Cougar Classic on Oct. 5-7 at the Harborside International in Chicago. Ryann Gilley was the Flames’ top finisher at the Cougar Classic last year, scoring a 36-hole total of 160.

The Flames close out their fall season on Oct. 19-21 with the Dayton Flyer Invitational at the NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio. Last season at the Dayton Flyer Invite, Angela Shin had the best performance for the Flames with a 36-hole total of 163.

Coming off of the most successful season in program history and the school’s best Horizon League finish, the Flames will tout six returning players for the 2014-15 campaign. Returnees include seniors Elizabeth Curtiss, Ryann Gilley, Cherise Mangal and Kayla Stueland, junior Caitlan Smollen and sophomore Shannon Menard.

Head coach Carol Rhoades has added four players to the program in Kelsey Jensen, Jennifer Kim, Marki Kaim and Julia Kim. Jensen is a junior transfer from Seminole State College of Florida and was named an honorable mention NJCAA All-American as a freshman. Jennifer Kim (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd), Julia Kim (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview) and Kaim (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) will be freshmen for the 2014-15 season.
