CHICAGO - The UIC women's golf team, which has been idle since April 7, will resume its spring season this weekend, when the Flames travel to Algonquin, Ill., to participate in the two-day Loyola Invitational at the Golf Club of Illinois. The field will include UIC, Green Bay and host Loyola.

UIC will send all seven of its active players to the tournament, while Loyola and Green Bay will play six golfers. The lowest-four scores for each school will count toward the final team tally. There will be one 18-hole round on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's tee time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CST, while Sunday's final round will tee off at 9:00 a.m.

"We've taken the last couple of weeks to re-assess some of our strengths, and certainly work on our weaknesses," said head coach Carol Rhoades. "We're excited about the challenge of competing against Green Bay and Loyola, two teams that we'll see one week later for the Horizon League Championships. Our goal is to be peaking at the right time of the season, and this weekend will be a big test for our players."

The Golf Club of Illinois is located at 1575 Edgewood Drive in Algonquin. It is a classic links-style course with four distinct tees. In 1990, the Golf Club of Illinois hosted the Illinois Open Championship. For the Loyola Invitational, par will be played at 71.
