CHICAGO -The UIC women's golf team, which has been idle from competition since mid-March, will resume its first-ever competitive season next Monday and Tuesday (April 9-10), when the Flames participate in the Detroit Titans Invitational at Western Country Club in Redford, Mich.

"We are looking forward to measuring our spring progress this week at Western Country Club," said head coach Carol Rhoades. "Anytime we get the chance to go head-to-head against Horizon League opponents, in this case Detroit, it allows us to set a goal to where we strive to be. I'm excited about Casey Hahn making her UIC debut, after she battled injury during the fall and early on this spring."

Established in 1926, Western C.C. is centrally located in the Detroit metropolitan area, and is 20 minutes or less from many western, northern and eastern suburbs, and downtown Detroit. The Detroit Titans, also a member of the Horizon League, will serve as the tournament host. UDM has captured each of the past two Titan Invitational team championships, including last season's dramatic win in a sudden-death playoff.

The Flames last competed in the Benbow Invitational, hosted by Butler, March 12-13 in Jacksonville, Fla. UIC finished 13th in the field, and freshman Alex Perez took 15th individually - the Flames shot a season-best 341 as a team in the opening round of the tournament.
