Women's Golf Resumes Spring Season at Bradley Invitational

CHICAGO - The UIC women’s golf team resumes its spring season this weekend (April 5-6) as the Flames compete at the Bradley Invitational. The event will take place at Pekin Country Club in Pekin. UIC took sixth at last year’s event, which Bradley won with a team score of 949.
The event will feature one round on Saturday and one round on Sunday. Other participants in the Bradley Invitational field include Butler, Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois.
The Flames kicked off the spring season in Florida on March 9-13 at the Titan Tri-Match and Seminole Spring Break Invitational. UIC finished the Titan Tri-Match with 18 pars and a team score of 363. At the Seminole Spring Break Invitational, the Flames had five birdies over the two days of competition and finished with a team score of 694. UIC posted its lowest round of the weekend (338) in the second round of the Seminole Spring Break Invitational.
Ryann Gilley led the Flames in Florida as she posted an average of 83.6 over three rounds of play. She had eight pars and fired an 83 at the Titan Tri-Match before a 168 at the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational. Gilley had two birdies on day two and shot an 80, which is the third lowest round of her career.
Cherise Mangal (88.6 average), Caitlan Smollen (90.0 average) and Elizabeth Curtiss (90.0 average) also posted strong scores on the Florida trip. Mangal had two birdies on day two of the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational and finished with a round of 81. During the second round of last year’s Bradley Invitational, Mangal fired a 79.
