Women's Golf Heads to Seminole State Spring Break Invitational|
March 7, 2014
CHICAGO - The UIC women’s golf team will fly to Florida to kick off its spring season at the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational (March 10-12). The event will take place at Timacuan Golf Club, which is one of Seminole State’s six home courses. Located in Lake Mary, Timacuan’s new renovation lands it as one of the top courses to play in the Orlando area.
In its fifth year of competition, the Seminole State golf team has racked up many accolades. The team competes in the NJCAA, but has played stroke for stroke with many of the top rated Division I golf teams. The Raiders have placed third, fourth and sixth in the NJCAA over the last five years. Florida Atlantic and two squads from Detroit will also compete at the invitational.
UIC is entering its third spring and has found its own way to flourish. The Flames are coming off their most successful fall season, as they saw the program’s first individual title (Caitlan Smollen at the Green Bay Dual Match) and the third-lowest 36-hole team total in program history (649 at the Green Bay Invite). UIC looks to carry this positive momentum into the spring season and finish strong at the Horizon League Championship.
