Women's Golf Concludes Play at Delores Black Invitational|

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The UIC women’s golf team concluded action at the Delores Black Invitational Sunday (April 13) in 15th place with a combined score of 691. The Flames had 27 pars and three birdies on day two. UIC finished the weekend with 61 pars and five birdies.
UIC was led by Caitlan Smollen, who fired a round of 86. Smollen’s score was three shots better than Saturday’s first round. Her combined score of 175 placed in a tie for 80th overall.
Cherise Mangal was UIC’s most consistent golfer of the weekend with a team-low combined score of 171. She fired an 87 Sunday and finished the weekend in a tie for 65th place.
Ryann Gilley’s combined score of 172 placed in a tie for 73rd after a Sunday round of 89. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Curtiss carded an 88 on Sunday and her total score of 173 tied for 76th place. Gilley and Curtiss both had two birdies over the weekend. Kayla Stueland (93) improved by one shot from Saturday and placed in 89th.
UIC begins postseason play on April 24-27, at the Horizon League Championship held in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. at Mission Inn Golf Resort. Last season, the Flames finished seventh overall in the event and Mangal carded the Flames’ best collective 54-hole score at the Championship (247).
