Perez Finishes in Ninth-Place Tie at Horizon League Championship

Freshman Alex Perez finished UIC's first-ever Horizon League Women's Golf Championship in a ninth-place tie following Sunday's final round at Mission Inn Resort. The Flames shot 350 as a team on day three, officially clinching an eighth-place finish.

Freshman Alex Perez carded a six-over-par 79 at the Mission Inn Resort Saturday, helping the UIC women's golf team slice 35 strokes off its first-round team score at the 2012 Horizon League Championship. All five players in the Flames' lineup recorded better scores than they did in Friday's opening round.

UIC freshman women's golfer Alex Perez was named to the all-conference team in advance of the 2012 Horizon League Championship, it was announced by the League office Thursday night. Perez becomes UIC's first-ever All-League selection in the first full year of competition for the program.

The UIC women's golf team will compete in their first-ever Horizon League Championship this weekend, as the annual event gets underway at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills on Friday. The Flames will play 18-holes each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Flames Finish Third in Loyola Invitational

In windy, chilly conditions, the UIC women's golf team wrapped up play in the Loyola Invitational Sunday, placing third in the field. The Flames pulled away from Horizon League member Green Bay, finishing 13 strokes ahead of the Phoenix.
