Story Named Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week|

CHICAGO—UIC women’s basketball player Rachel Story has been selected as the Illinois National Guard UIC Flames Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Dec.2-8. Story had a big second half against Butler to give her team its sixth-consecutive win of the season. She has led the Flames to their best start (6-2) in 12 seasons with her stellar play.
At Butler last Saturday, the senior guard ended the night with 17 points, 15 coming in the second half off of 6-of-7 shooting. She also added five rebounds, five assists, three steals and shot a perfect 3-of-3 at the free throw line.
Story has posted double-figures in nine straight games dating back to last season and has helped the Flames go undefeated (6-0) when she is in the lineup. The Milwaukee, Wis. native is currently ranked fourth in the horizon league in points per game (18.8) and third in three point field goal shooting percentage (44.1%).
This marks Story’s second time being named Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week so far this season.
The Flames will next head to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on Western Michigan on Dec. 18 with the tip scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
