UIC vs. Bradley Game Notes Get Acrobat Reader

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC women's basketball team kicks off its 2008-09 season with a showdown against Bradley on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the UIC Pavilion.

Tipoff for the Flames' season opener is set for 2 p.m.

Bradley leads the series, 12-3.

UIC enters its 2008-09 campaign after an impressive 2-0 mark in preseason action. The Flames defeated Lewis and St. Xavier in their two exhibition contests.

Averaging 10.5 points and 3.5 assists per game, Jessie Miller picked up right where she left off last season with two solid performances in preseason play.

Newcomer Jasmine Bailey stormed onto the scene with 10.0 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds in two preseason games. Bailey scored nine points and totaled 10 rebounds in her UIC debut against Lewis on Nov. 6. The St. Louis native then chipped in 11 points and seven boards in a 20-point win over St. Xavier on Nov. 11.

Center Cassie Johnson totaled 13 rebounds, while Ashley Hluska totaled three blocks in two exhibition contests.

The Flames will be looking to even the score on Saturday after falling to the Braves last season by seven points (69-62) on Nov. 17 in Peoria, Ill.

Miller led UIC's offensive attack against Bradley with 20 points. Nikki Grobbecker was one rebound shy of tying her career-high with 13 rebounds. The center also marked a career-best with three blocks against the Braves.

The Flames host Canisius on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. UIC opens the 2008-09 season with six straight home games.
